Recently, four invention patents jointly applied by Yuefeng Aluminum Materials Application Research Institute and Yuefeng Aluminum Group high-end Manufacturing Company were authorized by the State Intellectual Property Office, basically forming the patent group layout in the field of advanced aluminum alloy materials for hydrogen energy and application performance evaluation, providing technical support for enhancing the core competitiveness of the group in strategic emerging fields such as new energy and new materials.
 
Hydrogen energy is a major strategic direction of the global energy technology revolution and transformation, and hydrogen storage and transportation is the key to restrict the large-scale application of hydrogen energy. Hydrogen storage methods mainly include high-pressure gaseous hydrogen storage, low temperature liquid hydrogen storage, solid hydrogen storage and organic liquid hydrogen storage, etc. At present, the most mature and most widely used is gaseous hydrogen storage, in which key components such as hydrogen storage tank liner and bottle mouth combination valve are made of aluminum alloy. In order to further reduce the cost of storage and transportation, it is necessary to increase the mass hydrogen storage density and improve the hydrogen storage pressure, which not only requires the material to have a higher strength to withstand the load, but also pay attention to the hydrogen embrittleness sensitivity of the material during long-term service in a high-pressure hydrogen environment to ensure the safety and reliability of the transportation and use process.
 
With the support of Yuefeng Aluminum's high-end key research and development project, Yuefeng Aluminum Materials Institute has overcome the problem that conventional electrochemical methods are difficult to simulate the diffusion rate and distribution state of hydrogen atoms in actual service, and developed a rapid evaluation method to realize the rapid and accurate evaluation of the high-pressure hydrogen embrittleness sensitivity of materials. Developed new materials for hydrogen embrittlement resistance that meet the strength requirements under ultra-high hydrogen pressure conditions above 70MPa, and obtained 4 national authorized invention patents for related achievements. The successful development of new materials and hydrogen embrittleness measurement methods can provide solutions for the service capability prediction of key aluminum alloy materials and components in the hydrogen energy field, and has great application potential in hydrogen fuel cell heavy trucks, commercial vehicles, military communication tools and other application scenarios.
