On June 18, an international event focusing on the future development of the recycled metal industry - the 2024 Recycled Metal Southeast Asia International Forum was held in Bangkok, Thailand. The forum was sponsored by China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, Recycled Metals Branch (referred to as CMRA), China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Nonferrous Metals Industry Committee, Electronic World Trade Platform (eWTP), Thailand Recyclers Association, a total of 24 countries and regions of nearly 600 people participated in the exhibition. Representatives from the Thai government, international industry associations, the Park, China News Service Thailand branch, Xinhua news Agency Bangkok branch, People's Daily Bangkok Bureau, People's Online Southeast Asia Representative Office, Daily News, Spring news and other media attended the forum.
This forum aims to jointly discuss the mission and future of the industry from the perspective of global cooperation, help recycled non-ferrous metal enterprises in various countries to understand the policy and market environment, expand trade and investment channels, and promote the high-quality collaborative development of the recycled non-ferrous metal industry.
Wang Jiwei, deputy secretary-general of China Non-ferrous Metals Industry Association, Vice president and secretary-general of Recycled Metals Branch, said in his speech that the current global recycled non-ferrous metals industry shows a diversified layout, regional cooperation, and accelerated digital transformation, and is becoming an important force to reshape the global industrial structure and affect the global development pattern. Countries have accelerated the development of the renewable non-ferrous metal industry, and China has implemented large-scale equipment renewal and consumer goods for new actions to continuously expand new fields and new tracks for industrial development.
Wang Jiwei pointed out that it is necessary to accurately grasp the new situation of the global recycled non-ferrous metal industry chain and supply chain, seize the new opportunities for regional cooperation brought about by industrial upgrading and transfer, and win the initiative and the opportunity in the depth of changes in the industrial pattern. He put forward four suggestions, first, the renewable non-ferrous metal industry to empower the industrial chain, actively participate in the global industrial division of labor and cooperation; Second, the renewable non-ferrous metal industry should become a new force to support the green growth of the local economy, strengthen industry self-discipline, and give play to positive energy; Third, strengthen innovation and improve the supply quality of recycled non-ferrous metal products; Fourth, strengthen industrial coordination, give full play to regional complementarity, and constantly explore new growth areas of international cooperation.
Li Xiaobo, chairman of the General Chamber of Commerce of Chinese Enterprises in Thailand, pointed out in his speech that Thailand and China have maintained close cooperative relations in the political and economic fields. In the field of recycled non-ferrous metals, the cooperation between China and Thailand is in the interests of both sides. With the vigorous development of Thailand's new energy vehicle industry, it is expected that the sales volume of new energy vehicles in Thailand will exceed 100,000 in 2024, which will bring huge market demand for the renewable non-ferrous metal industry, and also provide more opportunities for cooperation between China and Thailand in related fields.
In his speech, the Thai general and advisor to the president of the Thai Recyclers Association, Wei Qi Yati, reviewed the development process of the recycling industry in Thailand and expressed warm congratulations on the success of the forum. He believes that the forum provides a valuable platform for the exchange of recycled non-ferrous metal enterprises in various countries and helps to promote international cooperation and development of the industry.

In the special session on China's recycled metal industry development and International cooperation, Zhang Rumeng, Operation director of the public service platform of the Electronic World Trade Platform (eWTP), shared the prospect of the digital exploration and promotion of the development of recycled metals of the eWTP public service platform. Mr.Joe Vu, Senior Vice President of the London Metal Exchange and head of the Asian Financial Sales Department, introduced the situation of price risk management helping the recycled metal industry, and Ye Fengchun, deputy chief engineer of China Ruilin Engineering Technology Co., Ltd. analyzed the process selection and practice of recycled metal. Wang Jiwei detailed the latest policy and international cooperation vision of China's recycled non-ferrous metal industry, and predicted the impact of China's ongoing large-scale equipment renewal and consumer goods trade-in action on recycled non-ferrous metal production.
In a special session on exploring market opportunities in Southeast Asia, Thanongsai Soukkhamthat, Director General of the Sawan Senor Special Economic Zone Authority in Laos, Tan Van Khai, President of the Malaysian Chamber of Commerce for Non-Ferrous Metals, and Tran Thi Van Anh, Chairman of Prima Group, shared the latest policies, plans, incentives and the status and challenges of the recycled non-ferrous metals industry in their country. Zhu Zhanhong, deputy general manager of Hanhe Renewable Resources (Holding) Co., LTD., Zhang Dongbin, general manager of Suzhou Xiaobo Technology Co., LTD., and Cao Jun, general manager of Beijing Siji Technology Co., LTD., combined with their own experience, discussed the key strategies of localized operation and the establishment of overseas supply chains, the supply of recycled metal raw materials in Southeast Asia, and the role of advanced pretreatment technology in promoting the industry. In the special session on industrial status and development in Europe, the United States and the Middle East, Sanjeev Phadke, Secretary general of the Middle East Recycling Bureau, and Wang Min, senior analyst of the British Commodity Research Institute, respectively conducted an in-depth analysis on the status quo and investment opportunities of the Middle East recycled non-ferrous metal industry, and the characteristics of the European and American recycled copper and aluminum markets. During the panel session, Mr. Robin Cai, General Manager of Autor Industries Singapore Pte LTD, Mr. Michel Dubois, Sales Manager of the Asian Market of Delisburg, Mr. Shunrong Li, Trade Manager of North German Recycling Company, Muzammil Haji Amin, Vice President of the Middle East Recycling Bureau and CEO of Ala Group, expounded his views on the evolution of the trade pattern in Europe, the United States and the Middle East, the development trend and potential of the recycled non-ferrous metals industry, providing participants with a multi-dimensional perspective.
At the roundtable, Luo Jing, Chairman of Huimei Group Co., LTD.; Xu Zhun, chairman of Shenker Using Resources Sole Co., LTD., Laos; Zhang Junbing, Vice President of Zhejiang Hailiang Co., LTD., Thailand; Vig-Pak Wang Jing, general manager of Recycling(PVT)Ltd, introduced the investment experience and suggestions of Indonesia, Laos, Thailand and Pakistan respectively, while Mr.Alfred Tan, General Secretary of the Malaysian Non-ferrous Metals Chamber of Commerce, expressed his confidence in the integration and collaborative development of the recycled non-ferrous metals industry chain from a macro perspective.
During the forum, the China-Thailand recycled metal Industry Investment Dialogue was held, and representatives of Chinese and Thai governments and enterprises focused on the most concerned issues and appeals in the actual operation of enterprises, such as market access strategies, industrial support policies, and talent introduction. Through the dialogue, Chinese enterprises have shared their overseas investment experience, and the understanding and mutual trust between relevant Thai government departments and Chinese enterprises have been deepened, laying a good foundation for follow-up communication and coordination. It is worth noting that Chinese renewable non-ferrous metal enterprises that have invested in Thailand are generally optimistic about Thailand, believing that Thailand encourages circular and green (BCG) investment direction, good infrastructure, convenient ports, rich human resources, high quality, friendly to China, and cultural tolerance, which is suitable for long-term development.
As the first industry conference held overseas by the Recycled Metals Branch of China Non-Ferrous Metals Industry Association, this forum has been highly praised by all parties for its large scale, high degree of internationalization, and active trade cooperation and technical exchanges. The participants said that "I did not expect so many people to come", and gained a lot of valuable information; The crowd in the exhibition area is in an endless stream, and some exhibitors bluntly say that "the exhibition effect is far beyond expectations", and signed orders on the spot; Some Chinese entrepreneurs with investment intentions said that they had "come to the right place", not only deepening their understanding of overseas markets, but also reaching out to local enterprises.
The successful holding of the forum has contributed to the promotion of exchanges in the renewable non-ferrous metal industry and regional economic development, and has released a clear signal that China's large renewable non-ferrous metal enterprises have a strong willingness to go out and study investment, and countries have great potential to deepen industrial cooperation and promote common development.
