Aluminum demand in North America declined in the first quarter of 2025
August 7, 2025
Data from the Aluminum Association shows that in the first quarter of 2025, the estimated total demand for aluminum in the United States and Canada (domestic producers' shipments + imports) reached 6.53 billion pounds, a 4.4% decline from 6.83 billion pounds in the same period last year.
North America's imports of aluminum and aluminum products rose by 40.9% quarter-on-quarter in the first quarter as enterprises increased their imports before the implementation of tariffs (the United States imposed a 25% tariff on all steel and aluminum products exported to the US starting from March 12).
