Indian aluminum executives say the Indian aluminum industry is growing fast

Foreign news September 14, a senior executive of Indian Aluminum said Thursday that as the Indian government vigorously promotes infrastructure construction, India's aluminum industry seeks to meet growing demand, in the context of the global economic downturn, India's aluminum industry is a bright spot.
India is already the world's second largest aluminium producer and third largest aluminium consumer, with demand set to double in the next 10 years, the executive said.
He said the government was investing in infrastructure such as railways and airports, while housing construction and the car industry were booming. India's aluminium demand is expected to jump to 9 million tonnes by 2033 from about 4.5 million tonnes this year.
However, he said the country faces challenges in terms of project approvals, quality standards and shortages of skilled workers.
