Argentina has temporarily abolished export taxes on aluminium, steel and their derivative products

The Argentine government has temporarily abolished export taxes on aluminium, steel and their derivatives until the end of 2025. This tax exemption measure came into effect on Wednesday and applies to metal products exported to countries that previously imposed at least 45% import tariffs on such goods. The resolution stipulates that this measure will remain in effect until December 31, or until the relevant countries reduce tariffs to below 45%, whichever comes first. The decree further states: "This move aims to enhance export capacity and improve the competitiveness of the domestic production sector." At the same time, it is emphasized that this decision also reflects Argentina's intention to push its trade policy towards a more open direction.
