Egypt Aluminum plans to build Egypt's first aluminum foil manufacturing plant.

According to foreign media reports, Egyptalum is seeking a loan of 5 billion Egyptian pounds (approximately 100 million US dollars) from a consortium of banks in Egypt and the Gulf region to build Egypt's first aluminum foil manufacturing plant.
The first phase of this project is expected to produce 25,000 tons of aluminum foil annually, with an investment of approximately 90 million US dollars. It is reported that after the expansion of the project, the total investment will reach 135 million US dollars, but the final production capacity has not been disclosed.
According to previous reports, the Egyptian Aluminum Company has allocated 1.4 billion Egyptian pounds in its 2025-2026 fiscal year investment budget for the first phase of this project.
According to official statistics from Egypt, the annual import value of aluminum foil in Egypt is approximately 140 million US dollars.
In May 2026, Egypt Aluminum and the Trafigura Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement aimed at carrying out a large-scale expansion of the Nag Hammadi aluminum complex. The project's investment is estimated to be between 750 million and 900 million US dollars.
Egyptalum is the largest primary aluminium producer in North Africa, with an annual total capacity of 320,000 tons. Approximately 60% of its exported products are sold to the European Union.
