Hydro plans to close the Lucé extrusion plant in France

March 4, 2026
According to the official website of Hydro, Hydro has decided to further integrate its extrusion operations in Europe and has proposed to close its Lucé factory in France. This move aims to optimize the layout of its extrusion operations in Europe and enhance competitiveness.

The proposed closure plan will affect approximately 80 employees. The company is about to hold formal consultations with the representatives of the factory's staff. Once finalized, the factory will close in 2026.

The Lucé plant in France has been part of Hydro since 1986 and has two extruders. It is adjacent to Hydro's aluminum recycling plant in Lucé, which is not affected by this decision.

Hydro will continue to fully commit to the European squeeze market. The proposed changes will not affect the company's commitment to customers and service levels. If the decision to close the factory is ultimately confirmed, the customers currently receiving services from the affected factory will obtain products from other Hydro factories.

On November 26, 2025, Hydro announced its plan to close five other extraction plants in Europe. Two of these plants located in the UK have already been confirmed for closure, and it is expected that they will be shut down in the second quarter of 2026.
