In June, the share of Russian aluminium in LME warehouses declined, while that of Indian aluminium increased

On Thursday, July 10th, data from the London Metal Exchange (LME) showed that in June, the proportion of Russian-origin available aluminum inventories in LME-registered warehouses dropped from 69% in May to 66%, while the proportion of Indian-origin aluminum rose from 30% to 34%. To comply with the sanctions imposed by the United States and the United Kingdom in response to Russia's special military operation against Ukraine in 2022, the LME has banned metals produced by Russia after April 13, 2024, from entering its storage system, but metals produced before that date can still be traded. As of the end of June, the inventory of available aluminum of Russian origin or registered warehouse receipts remained almost unchanged at 221,875 tons. Data shows that the inventory of primary aluminum in India has increased from 97,950 tons to 114,150 tons.
