February 7, 2025
According to Statistics Jamaica, in the first nine months of 2024 (the same below), Jamaica's alumina exports increased by 25.9% to $447.3 million, which greatly mitigated the impact of the decline in other export categories.
Benefiting from the increase in alumina exports, the overall export revenue of Jamaica's mining industry increased by 17% to $500.7 million.
Despite the strong performance of alumina exports, Jamaica's total domestic exports increased by only 3.7% to $1,209.6 million, Jamaica's re-exports fell by 57.8% to $150.9 million, and Jamaica's total export value fell by 10.8% to $1,360.5 million.
Driven by increased shipments of raw materials such as alumina, Jamaica's exports to its top five export destinations (United States, Russian Federation, Iceland, Netherlands, Canada) grew 15.4% to $967.1 million.
Note: Re-export (also known as re-export) refers to a country that uses the general trading system to record and compile import and export statistics, importing foreign goods into the country and then exporting them abroad without processing.
