On September 22nd, Zhou Xing, the spokesperson and deputy minister of the Ministry of Natural Resources, stated at a press conference of the State Council Information Office that China is a major manufacturing country. During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the demand for important mineral resources in China will still maintain a rigid growth. Therefore, the Ministry of Natural Resources will continue to implement the new round of strategic actions for mineral exploration breakthroughs, firmly hold onto the energy sector, and provide a strong guarantee for the development of advanced manufacturing in our country.
This includes implementing the national geological mapping plan, promoting the coverage rate of regional geological surveys on the land area to 51%, and the coverage rate of mineral geological surveys in important mineralization belts to 66%; increasing the intensity of exploration and mining, organizing a search and development campaign, focusing on scarce minerals such as oil, iron, copper, and aluminum, as well as advantageous minerals such as rare earths, deploying a number of key exploration and mining projects, steadily advancing the construction of about 300 energy and resource bases, and enhancing the confidence in ensuring energy and resource security; strengthening scientific and technological innovation, achieving incremental breakthroughs and revitalizing existing resources, promoting mining enterprises to improve the "three rates" (mining recovery rate, beneficiation recovery rate, and comprehensive utilization rate of resources) levels, etc.
