Moody's warns: Indonesia's commodity export plan poses risks to mining companies and could distort the market.

May 22, 2026
On Thursday, May 21st, Moody's Ratings stated that Indonesia's concentrated plan for commodity exports has a negative impact on the credit status of mining companies, and this plan also increases the risk of market distortion.

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto said on Wednesday that the government will implement centralized management of the export of key commodities as part of efforts to increase national fiscal revenue and strengthen control over the country's abundant natural resources.

Moody stated that although this move might help boost foreign capital inflows and the value of the Indonesian rupiah, it could also undermine investors' confidence in the overall policy environment of Indonesia.
