New Zealand Terminates Investigation into Import Quota Measures for Aluminium Profiles

On October 16, 2026, the WTO Safeguard Measures Committee released the safeguard measures notification submitted by the New Zealand delegation to it. On October 13, 2026, the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment of New Zealand (MBIE) issued a notice stating that the investigation determined that the import of aluminium profiles (Certain Aluminium Extrusion Products) had caused damage to the domestic industry, but did not meet the severe damage standard required by the Act [New Zealand Trade (Safeguard Measures) Act 2014], thus deciding not to implement safeguard measures for aluminium profiles and terminating the safeguard measures investigation. The New Zealand tariff codes of the involved products are 7604.21.00 00B and 7604.29.09 00F.
On May 28, 2026, the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment of New Zealand initiated a safeguard measures investigation into imported aluminium profiles.
