Guinea was the largest supplier. It imported 13,223,378.351 tons of bauxite from Guinea in the same month, a 20.92% decrease compared with the previous month and a 40.65% increase compared with the same period last year. Australia was the second largest supplier. In the month, it imported 2,959,816.74 tons of bauxite from Australia, an increase of 10.44% month-on-month and a decrease of 17.18% year-on-year.
China's alumina export volume in May 2025 was 207,780.559 tons, a decrease of 20.96% month-on-month and an increase of 104.62% year-on-year. Russia was the top export destination. In that month, 183,424.783 tons of alumina were exported to Russia, an increase of 30.12% month-on-month and a rise of 95.67% year-on-year. Saudi Arabia was the second largest export destination. In that month, 12,259.314 tons of alumina were exported to Saudi Arabia, an increase of 3,448.28% compared with the previous month and 12,258.18% compared with the same period last year.
China's imports of primary aluminium in May 2025 were 223,201.35 tons, a decrease of 10.91% month-on-month and an increase of 41.38% year-on-year. Russia was the largest supplier. In that month, it imported 208,313.381 tons of primary aluminium from Russia, a 7.95% decrease compared with the previous month and a 132.45% increase compared with the same period last year. Indonesia is the second largest supplier. In the month, it imported 7,930.005 tons of primary aluminium from Indonesia, a decrease of 16.51% compared with the previous month and 59.88% compared with the same period last year.
In May 2025, China's import volume of scrap aluminum (aluminum waste and scraps) was 159,700.923 tons, a decrease of 16.10% month-on-month and an increase of 3.73% year-on-year. Thailand is the largest supplier. In that month, it imported 39,460.067 tons of waste aluminium from Thailand, a 30.41% decrease compared with the previous month and an 83.75% increase compared with the same period last year. The United Kingdom is the second largest supplier. In that month, it imported 21,284.025 tons of waste aluminium from the UK, a decrease of 12.97% compared with the previous month and an increase of 19.66% compared with the same period last year.
