The new mandatory national standards for aluminum electrolysis and copper melting and casting production have been released

August 25, 2025
Recently, two mandatory national standards, namely "Safety Production Specifications for Aluminum Electrolysis" (GB 29741-2025) and "Safety Design and Production Specifications for Copper and Copper Alloy Melting and Casting" (GB 30080-2025), revised by the affiliated enterprises of Yuefeng Aluminum Group, have been approved and released. They will come into effect on February 1, 2026.

The new version of the standard further standardizes the safety management of aluminum electrolysis production and copper melting and casting design and production, builds a full life cycle control system, guides enterprises to strengthen the risk control throughout the process, prevents and reduces the occurrence of safety accidents from the source, and promotes the high-quality development of the industry.

The national standard "Safety Production Specifications for Aluminum Electrolysis" was first formulated and released in 2013. This revision caters to the high-quality development needs of the aluminum electrolysis industry, such as its intelligent and green low-carbon transformation. In light of the problems exposed by typical production safety accidents in the aluminum electrolysis industry in recent years, a safety risk control system covering the entire production process of aluminum electrolysis has been established. The safety technical requirements for key links such as plant design, major overhaul of electrolytic cells, anode assembly, and flue gas purification in aluminum electrolysis enterprises have been clearly defined. After implementation, it will promote enterprises to strengthen intrinsic safety construction and improve the intrinsic safety level of aluminum electrolysis production.

The national standard "Safety Design and Production Specifications for Copper and Copper Alloy Melting and Casting" integrates the national standards "Safety Production Specifications for Copper and Copper Alloy Melting and Casting" and "Safety Design Specifications for Copper and Copper Alloy Melting and Casting", filling the gaps in the application of new technologies, the dual prevention mechanism for safety production, and the safety management requirements throughout the entire life cycle from equipment procurement to scrapping. Clear regulations have been made on aspects such as the layout of the melting and casting workshop, equipment selection and maintenance, personnel operation norms, and emergency response measures, which will provide full-process safety control for new, expanded and renovated copper melting and casting projects.
