The United States intends to participate in the bauxite mining business in Guyana.

According to foreign media reports, Jacob Helberg, the Deputy Secretary of State for Economic Affairs of the United States Department of State, stated that the US government is seeking to develop the bauxite mining industry in Guyana and is also conducting surveys of the mining area to search for other mineral resources.
During his visit to Guyana on Wednesday, Helberg met with President Irfaan Ali and other government officials. He told reporters that the two sides had a lengthy discussion on the possibility of the United States participating in the country's bauxite mining industry.
