Recently, a new large-sized aluminum alloy square ingot from Yuefeng Aluminum was successfully trial-produced at the Yuefeng Aluminum Melting and Casting Plant, providing ingot casting guarantee for the subsequent rolling research of the new product.
This alloy has the advantages of light weight, high strength, good tensile properties, and low price. It is a new high-strength and tough aluminum alloy material jointly developed by a domestic scientific research institution and Yuefeng Aluminum. However, the alloy is difficult to cast and form, and is prone to cracks, slag inclusions and other abnormalities, which may lead to scrapping of the ingot.
In order to solve this molding problem, the melting and casting plant attaches great importance to it, establishes a technical research team, implements full tracking of the melting and casting process, strengthens process control, and does a good job in data accumulation. After many failures, technicians continued to adjust the process parameters, and finally the alloy was successfully trial-produced.
