Yesterday (January 21st), the first product produced by the 16,000-ton integrated die-casting production line of Dongfeng Automobile - the battery box - was successfully rolled off the production line and delivered. This delivery achievement marks a key breakthrough for Dongfeng Automobile in the lightweight and integrated manufacturing of core components for new energy vehicles.
It is reported that the Dongfeng integrated die-casting project officially started construction in November 2024 and was completed with the final acceptance of the main factory building in August 2025. The joint factory building, with an area of 47,000 square meters, has installed two integrated die-casting machines, with specifications of 16,000 tons and 10,000 tons respectively. This production line is dedicated to the production of ultra-large structural components such as the rear floor of new energy vehicles and battery shells.
The battery box delivered this time is the first product produced by the integrated die-casting production line of Dongfeng Automobile. It was completed through 14 months of arduous efforts by Dongfeng Automobile Research and Development Institute and Yuechuang Technology, relying on the "integration and cooperation between manufacturer and supplier" innovation mechanism. Compared with traditional production methods, the integrated die-casting battery box, through highly integrated design, can significantly enhance the safety of the vehicle's power battery system, while achieving weight reduction of the body and energy consumption reduction, effectively extending the range of new energy vehicles. With the production of this product, Dongfeng Automobile will become the first vehicle manufacturer in the industry to implement an integrated die-casting layout covering the front, middle and rear of the vehicle body.
At the delivery ceremony, Yu Zhen, a member of the Party Standing Committee and the vice general manager of Dongfeng Automobile, attended and unveiled the integrated die-casting battery pack tray. Representatives from Dongfeng Automobile Research and Development Institute, Yipai Technology and Dongfeng Technology jointly signed the product acceptance agreement, marking that this product has officially entered the mass production application stage.
Dongfeng Automobile, as the first domestic vehicle manufacturer to introduce the 16000T integrated die-casting technology, has explored an innovative path in the integrated R&D of vehicles and components as well as in the deep collaboration of the industrial chain.
Looking to the future, Dongfeng Motor will continue to accelerate the construction of production capacity for multi-model integrated die-cast battery boxes, vehicle bodies and other key components. It will focus on researching and developing large-scale ultra-thin-walled battery shell technology, and actively explore the die-casting applications of advanced materials such as magnesium alloys. This will further enhance the lightweighting level of the entire vehicle and seize the technical high ground in the "second half" competition of intelligence.
