On May 28th, the launch ceremony of the pilot program for national product carbon footprint label certification of electrolytic aluminum and ammonium phosphate was held in Kunming City, Yunnan Province.
The establishment of a product carbon footprint labeling and certification system is a powerful tool for implementing the "dual carbon" goals and helps promote the comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development. At the end of December 2024, the State Administration for Market Regulation and three other departments announced the list of pilot areas for product carbon footprint label certification. Electrolytic aluminum and ammonium phosphate products from Yunnan Province were selected as the first batch of national pilot areas for product carbon footprint label certification. Among them, ammonium phosphate products are the only pilot area in the country, and electrolytic aluminum products have been approved for pilot in four provinces (autonomous regions).
Electrolytic aluminum and ammonium phosphate, as the characteristic and advantageous industries of Yunnan Province, occupy an important position in the national and even global industrial chains. By carrying out pilot projects for carbon footprint label certification, enterprises can accurately grasp the carbon emissions throughout the entire product life cycle, thereby implementing targeted energy conservation and emission reduction measures, promoting the green transformation and upgrading of industries, increasing product added value, enhancing the core competitiveness of industries, and assisting Yunnan in building a significant national green and low-carbon industrial base.

The headquarters of leading enterprises in the electrolytic aluminum and ammonium phosphate industries in Yunnan Province are concentrated in Kunming. The launch of the national product carbon footprint label certification pilot program will effectively promote the coordinated cooperation of the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain and continuously enhance the green competitiveness of products. The Market Regulation Bureau of Yunnan Province will resolutely shoulder its responsibility, enhance collaboration and coordination with relevant departments within the province, and strengthen exchanges and cooperation with all provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions across the country, jointly promoting the pilot work to achieve practical results.
