LME fully recognizes the performance standards of the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) version 3

October 7, 2026
ASI is pleased to announce that the ASI performance standards version 3 have been fully recognized by the Responsible Procurement Framework of the London Metal Exchange (LME). The standards and implementation processes are fully in line with the assessment requirements of LME Pathway A (Track A).

The compliance benchmarking assessment agency TDi Sustainable Development Consulting Company conducted a conformity assessment of the ASI performance standards from 2021 to 2026, based on the OECD "Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas" (hereinafter referred to as the "OCED Guidelines").

This assessment aims to determine the degree of consistency between the ASI performance standards and the OCED Guidelines, as well as whether the standard can be recognized by the LME as an acceptable due diligence framework for aluminium brands listed on the LME.

The assessment mainly includes two aspects:

· Consistency between the ASI performance standards and related guidance documents and the OCED Guidelines ("Policies and Standards"); And

·ASI implements the effectiveness of the relevant requirements through its assurance, supervision and auditing processes ("implementation").

ASI received conditional approval in 2022. Currently, with the completion of the implementation section of the OECD consistency assessment, ASI has officially obtained full and unconditional approval. The complete ASI consistency assessment report can be viewed on the relevant page. For aluminum brands listed on the LME, the ASI certification obtained based on the ASI Performance Standards V3 can be used to prove compliance with the LME's responsible procurement requirements.

As part of the current ASI standard revision process, ASI has committed to maintaining consistency with the LME's "A path" requirements. To maintain consistency, ASI will not propose any amendments to the criterion 9.8 "Procurement from conflict-affected and high-risk areas". At the same time, ASI will also utilize the gaps and improvement opportunities identified in the OECD consistency assessment to further expand and strengthen the existing criterion provisions.
